FOUNDER & HEAD COACH

Kyle J. Davis

I have spent nearly three decades coaching, teaching, and helping athletes discover just how much they are capable of achieving. As the founder of Optimum Performance Athletics, my goal is simple: to help athletes Exceed Their Potential through individualized, science-backed training and dedicated coaching.

My background combines extensive experience in track & field, strength and conditioning, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and athlete development. I specialize in the jumping events — high jump, long jump, and triple jump — and have worked with athletes ranging from developing youth and high school competitors to NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA athletes, as well as athletes competing internationally.

Throughout my coaching career, I have had the opportunity to develop state champions, state championship medalists, school-record holders, collegiate athletes, and national-level competitors. Most recently, I have helped develop young athletes into Hawai‘i state championship podium finishers and have worked extensively with a three-time Hawai‘i Gatorade Track & Field Athlete of the Year who became a multiple-time state champion and record holder before earning a berth to the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships.

GROUNDED IN SCIENCE

My approach to performance training is grounded in science. With graduate degrees in Sport Management & Leadership and Human Anatomy & Physiology Instruction, USATF Level II certification in the jumping events, USA Weightlifting certification, and ongoing doctoral study in Kinesiology, I continually look for ways to translate current research into practical training that produces measurable results.

That means going beyond simply giving athletes workouts. I use principles of biomechanics, exercise physiology, strength and power development, plyometrics, sprint mechanics, periodization, and performance analytics to understand what each athlete needs and why. Technology — including velocity-based training, jump testing, timing systems, video analysis, and biomechanical assessment — provides additional objective data that allows training to become increasingly individualized as the athlete develops.

POTENTIAL ISN'T WHERE YOU ARE TODAY

At Optimum Performance Athletics, I believe potential should never be defined solely by where an athlete is today. The objective is to identify where they can go, develop a purposeful plan for getting there, and provide the coaching, accountability, and scientific approach necessary to make that progress possible.
